Materials & Care

Mohair Fabric

Over 150 years ago, the first teddy bears were designed and made out of mohair and we think it’s still the best fabric for the job. Our fabric is carefully woven on one of only a few looms left in the world: mohair fibers (sheared from the mohair goat) are looped onto cotton backing, creating a 100% natural fur that’s durable, beautiful, and totally unique.

Stuffing

Cotton Stuffing: We want what’s inside to be just as good as what’s on the outside, for that reason we use 100% Cotton grown in the USA.

Our cotton stuffing has never been processed and contains no bleaches, dyes, fire retardants, or fungicides. More over, we use the leftover fiber discarded by the textile industry, putting to use what was previously seen as waste. That’s good for us, good for your little ones, and good for the planet.

Soft-Poly Stuffing: Poly-fill has it’s place! We use it in our PDC Bears, PDC Bigger Bears for a soft squishy feel, and in the Rattle Balls to ensure ease of washing and drying.

Care Instructions

Life can be messy, especially where kids are involved. It’s important to us that we’re able to clean it up now and again, that’s why washing instructions are so prominently listed for all POLKA DOT CLUB Toys. If your PDC Bear or Rabbit was made before 08-2014, please contact Jen for laundering advise and services: membership(at)polkadotclub.com

PDC Bears– Spot clean and set in the sun to dry. For a deeper clean, place inside a small laundry bag and machine wash in cold water with a mild soap. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Notes Below**

PDC Big Bears– Spot clean and set in the sun to dry.

PDC Classic Bears– Spot clean and set in the sun to dry. Do not tumble dry.

PDC Floppy Bears– Spot clean and set in the sun to dry. For a deeper clean, place inside a small laundry bag and machine wash in cold water with a mild soap. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Notes Below**

PDC Cuddling Rabbits– Spot clean, or even better, place inside a small laundry bag and machine wash in cold water with a mild soap. Air dry or tumble dry on low. Notes Below**

A NOTE ABOUT WATER WASHING- Hand washing and air-drying are always the most gentle method of wet laundering. While there is no harm in getting your bear wet, the trick is getting him dry. The hot sun is the best option but in a pinch, some bears may be tucked in a laundry bag to dry on low. **This will certainly add wear and personality to your bear, but we openly admit we like any wear that comes from a well-loved plaything. Be sure that all the moisture is out of the stuffing before you return the freshly washed friend to your beloved.

PDC Rattle Balls– Machine wash in cold water with a mild soap and tumble dry on low. The PDC rattle BALLS are designed to be kicked around: hand washing is not necessary.

PDC Linen Snakes– Shake clean and lay in the sun. Water washing is not recommended as color may spread.

PDC Clothes– All clothes may be gently hand washed and laid flat to dry.

Long Live the Polka Dot Club.
